B14 Handicaps 2025 (UK)

The B14 class members have been asking the Class Association for a while, to offer advice on handicap numbers for old alloy rig B14s. Having looked at results and returns from the RYA, and information from members, we have reviewed the numbers. The B14 fleet is essentially split into two groups, boats post 754 (Ovington/Seavolution) and pre 755, Rondar. Almost all are now racing with Carbon masts. There is a third, much smaller group, pre 755 with alloy masts.

The B14 for 2025 has been given a handicap of 858 under the Portsmouth Yardstick published by the RYA. The Great Lakes Handicap System is currently under review and will be published in the future. The class are working on with the RYA on PY returns and from these, we will continue adjust if necessary. The suggested PY’s have been publicised on the B14 facebook pages (UK) and also in the website.

For club and TT racing in 2025, we have proposed the following handicaps:-

  1. Post 754- 858

  2. Pre 755 - 868 (Carbon mast)

  3. Pre 755 - 878 (Alloy mast)

With the Worlds coming to the UK in 2026 for the first time in 19 years, we have decided that the Pre-worlds/Euro’s will be scored using the handicap numbers and that there will be a handicap based award at the world championships.
